※This is FICTION. (Thanking the brilliant story from my brother, John)
What my dad enjoys the most is photo taking. He takes his digital camera with him every time when we have a special occasion. He owns various lenses, approximately 5 of them. He puts time and effort into taking every single photo, always trying to take the best picture. I always enjoy having a look at his photo. One day, when I was looking at them, I suddenly realized that his birthday was approaching.
I really had hard time thinking about what to give him. He enjoys taking photos, so I instantly thought that I should give him something that is related to digital photography. However, the moment when I got into the digital camera mall through the internet, I felt a gush of despair. Everything from lens to the trivial accessories was out of my price range. I never thought that it was so expensive!
I pondered, everyday, until I got into an interesting blog. The blog contained pictures that were taken from a lens called a ‘Pinhole Lens’. It is a flat lens that is made out of cork or other woods. In the center of the lens, there is no glass but a very miniscule hole penetrated through it. The picture that is taken with that ‘lens’ comes out black and white, but it’s very dreamy-like and has a very old-like quality, so it is loved by lots of photo enthusiasts. I was very happy to find something that was so cheap, yet so cool device.
I gave it to my dad, and he liked it very much! He tried his camera and took many pictures, and eventually made a special album that contained all the pinhole-camera-taken pictures. Other than a lavish dinner or cake, I was happy to find something that suited his favorite hobby. I’m sure the gift meant a lot to him!
