Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
When travelling, there are two options that you could follow. You can get a tour guide in order to get a good explanation about anywhere you go. Or, you can simply plan your trip by your own, and be on your way. Based on my family’s traveling experience, being led by a tour guide could be somewhat tiring and bothersome. Despite this drawback, it has its own benefits of knowing and learning about a place more specifically. However, I prefer a trip of my own.
First of all, if you don’t travel with a group led by a tour guide, you will be able to feel freer and have more fun. Being made to go here and there by other people could be a tiresome job. You feel easily stressed because you have to do everything according to the schedules previously made for the group. However, if you take a trip individually, you are able to go anywhere you want to go, feeling carefree. For example, when I went to Hong Kong with my family, we were led by a tour guide with other families. However, we had to start off our day busily and do only the things that we were allowed to do which were limited. It was just bothersome for me, and I couldn’t feel the enjoyment as much as other trips that we did without a tour guide.
Secondly, a tour guide is not a necessary person to accompany with, in order to know about a place that you go. Making the plans and researching about a specific place could easily be made by you alone through the internet. For instance, my father usually goes through what we will see in the specific place, the story and history related to the place, and useful or interesting facts by the internet. He prints it out, and explains them to us when we pass the specific monuments and buildings. Thus, while everyone could prepare this in their home, before going to any trips, paying money and accompanying a tour guide could be a waste of money.
To sum up, I think that travelling without a tour guide would be more enjoyable. Based on my experience, free and even more fun would be available, while there is no one on your way to stop you. Also, alternative sources of information about a place where you go are also available through the internet, which you could easily access.
